’Gram It Even Faster!

Apps are adding features and updates on a seemingly daily basis – and Instagram is no exception. The new share extension lets users send pictures to their Instagram feeds from any iOS app, such as Photos. A welcome addition, since you’ll now be able to share your selfie even faster. But there’s a drawback: when using this feature, you can’t use any of Instagram’s filters or editing tools, unless you open the app itself.

Geo-Hotels

Snapchat geofilters have been steadily growing in popularity in recent months. Whether it’s for events, destinations, or birthday parties, everyone is using them! Starwood Hotel and Resorts is known for innovation, but the company was late to hop on the geo-filter bandwagon. But last week, it released seven branded geofilters at 650 hotels across all of their properties in the U.S., U.K. and Canada. These geofilters, tailored to each property, let guests do things like send virtual postcards or put up “Do Not Disturb” notifications. The brand hasn’t gone all in, though – there’s no Starwood Snapchat account. Yet.

Sprechen Sie Deutsch?

Big news for Refinery29! After branching out to the U.K just six months ago, Germany is next in line for the trendsetting women’s lifestyle publisher. The German-language site has a six-person team devoted strictly to editorial. “Germany is the fourth-biggest market in terms of commercial value and influence,” said Kate Ward, Vice President of international at Refinery29. The publisher plans to not just import U.S content into Germany, but to look to Berlin to create stories to bring to the U.K and U.S.

Can I Pin That?

Tok & Stok, one of the largest furniture chains in Brazil, just radically changed up e-commerce with an in-store and digital experience that brings the Pinterest “Pin It” feature to life. If you’re in the store and you see something you like, press one of the real-life pins and it’ll be instantly saved to your Pinterest inspiration board. The coolest part? “You don't have to leave the app open or pair your cellphone's Bluetooth with the physical button," says Igor Puga of DM9DDB, the folks behind this technological wizardry.
