Snapchat is tracking to earn $366.7 million in advertising sales this year – a 151 percent year-over-year increase. "Snapchat has improved its targeting capabilities and partnered with 11 measurement firms to address the concerns voiced early on," said Cathy Boyle, a principal analyst at eMarketer. "What they have yet to prove is whether they can consistently deliver a better return on investment for advertisers than other social networks."Over the past year, Snapchat has added a number of paid ad formats. And that adds up to a whole lot of Snapcash.
Instagram announced this week that they would begin to slowly remove the map feature from some users. The brains behind the photo app felt as if the feature was not being used enough and plan to focus on other priorities. Many users had speculated that getting rid of the photomap could be a way to crack down on photos revealing locations of high-profile users, but Instagram responded saying that was not the case. Either way, it’s going to be harder now to figure out where Taylor Swift is eating tonight.
The line between “celeb” and “social media celeb” has gotten thinner over the years and more money is being earned because of it. Bloglovin’, a media platform that connects microbloggers with brands, created an infographic that explains, depending on your brand/area of expertise, which channel is the best to focus efforts on for maximum results. Travel and fashion dominate Instagram, whereas home and lifestyle get the most engagement on Facebook.
In addition to now streaming Thursday night NFL games, Twitter is making it easier to talk (or smack talk) about your favorite teams. The platform announced custom hashtag emoji for every single team in the NFL. There also will be a #TNF hashtag that will include the NFL logo on a helmet – so get tweetin’! Who are you rooting for?
