Just like any social platform, Twitter is always looking for new ways to grow – and that means getting off users’ laptops and iPhones and on to their TVs. This week, Twitter announced the launch of an app for Apple TV, Xbox One and Amazon Fire TV, allowing viewers to get Twitter content on their TV screens. Yes, sports fans, this includes all 10 NFL Thursday Night Football games. On Apple TV specifically, users will be able to see their Twitter feed side by side to the live stream. Multitasking at its finest!
There has been a lot of talk Apple’s new iOS 10 – especially the new emojis and fonts. And the talk hasn’t been very positive! Many users have been sharing their thoughts on Twitter, with 67 percent negative comments. What’s the problem? For one thing, the iOS 10 font is bigger and bolder. For another, users aren’t getting all the feels for the new emojis – they’re a little too similar to Android’s emojis. Our prediction? Everyone will be used to these changes by October.
Snapchat has been in contact with Vurb, a five-year old personal search app that collects information from sources like Google Maps, Yelp and Uber. The potential partnership will allow Snapchat to find out where users are taking photos and videos and their interests.Snapchat hasn't commented, but many are speculating they may use it to help users make plans with friends.
Dubsmash, the popular mobile app that allows users to record and share themselves lip-syncing songs, now wants brands to join in. Dubsmash now allows sponsored channels on its app. The feature, called “Community Moments,” is based around themes and topics and will give more exposure to users’ videos. “The company will give advertisers an opportunity to sponsor channels as a way to promote branded audio content,” said Dubsmash President Suchit Dash. The first brand to give it a go is Warner Brothers, with a sponsored channel to promote the animated film Storks.
