Many C-suite execs might think they’re too busy for building a real social media presence — roughly 60 percent of Fortune 500 CEOs have no personal accounts on any of six major social networks. They’re making a mistake, says Forbes’ John Hall. “Leaders who are active on social media can broaden the reach of their company’s message and play a critical role in content distribution,” he writes. “A social media presence is also a two-way street. It can help you keep a finger on the pulse of your industry while connecting with brand advocates and critics alike and humanizing your brand.” One of the key ingredients is LinkedIn. On that under-used social network, CEOs can carve out a niche by publishing original content on the platform.
Speaking of those high-powered executives … what’s on their desks, other than their laptops? Fast Company asked execs from Facebook, Reddit and more. We especially like Autumn Manning, cofounder and CEO of YouEarnedIt. Her desk is always stocked with snacks. “With daily meetings that run long and are usually back-to-back, being able to grab some almonds, a protein bar, or some fruit from my desk helps me stay focused and engaged, and less hangry for everyone else,” she says.
These days, brands are always searching for the so-called “Instagram moment.” It's that perfect setting during an event that will get a viral buzz going. Socially optimized experiential marketing is instrumental in a campaign’s success or failure. “Good experiential marketing is taking Instagram optimization to the next level: it’s giving people a dynamic, fully-Instagrammable space in which to actually do something,” writes AdWeek’s Amebr Ward. “The doing something part is as vital as the Instagramming part. Otherwise, in marketing terms, it would just be a content photoshoot.”
Getting the treasured verified checkmark on Instagram has been the impossible dream for many – until now. The popular platform has announced a new feature to help users evaluate the authenticity of accounts with large followings on Instagram. Additionally, they’re launching a global verification form for notable public figures. Finally, they’re also introducing an improved form of two-factor authentication. This will make it easier and safer for you to securely log into Instagram. To access the verification request form, go to your profile. Then, tap the menu icon, select “Settings” at the bottom. Then choose “Request Verification.” Get out there and get verified, people!
