Resorts and hotels are beginning to capitalize on the popularity of Snapchat by offering custom filters and stickers for users staying at their properties. W Hotel’s “You Wish You Were Here” and “Current Situation” filters are the perfect addition to any poolside photos.
Wearables, like the Apple Watch and Samsung Gear VR, certainly seem to serve as a more interactive accessory to our smart phones. But will they eventually replace them? It is quite possible that the rapidly changing capabilities of these gadgets may outright replace our need for smartphones. You can send messages, share photos and videos, monitor exercise activity and much more with the current version of the Apple Watch. Eventually, screen-based actions could become a thing of the past and sensory experiences will dominate the way that we operate technology.
Canadian based e-commerce site, Shopify, is launching a partnership with Uber to offer same day delivery of goods from merchants to users in NYC, Chicago and San Francisco. By using this service through Shopify, both merchants and users are able to track the route of the delivery and ensure its arrival. Uber already operates a similar food delivery service in other cities, but is looking to step more into the retail space.
Pepsi’s sole purpose isn’t just to battle its rival Coca-Cola. The beverage company is now making moves in the technology space by creating a Pepsi-branded mobile phone to be sold in China. Pepsi says that its new device, the Pepsi P1, is not an attempt to become a mobile phone manufacturer. Instead, Pepsi's attempting to partner its brand with popular consumer products, as it has successfully done before with high-end headphones and shoes.
