Sixteen years ago today we were first introduced to Lorelai, Rory, Luke and the fictional town of Stars Hollow, Connecticut. And over the course of seven seasons, many of us became Gilmore Girls obsessives. We crushed on Jess Mariano (#TeamJess), laughed at Kirk’s antics, and dreamed of sipping a cup of hot coffee at Luke’s Diner.
For some of us, that dream became a reality today. In honor of the show’s anniversary and upcoming revival, Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life, Netflix launched more than 200 pop-up Luke’s at coffee shops across the United States. Denver’s sole participating location, Purple Door Coffee, completely transformed into our beloved diner with the iconic Luke’s logo proudly hung above the front door, “no cell phones” sign and all.
Several of TURNER’s “gillies” woke up before sunrise and made the trek to the Five Points neighborhood in hopes of being among the first 250 customers to receive a free cup of Stars Hollow joe. We weren't the only fans with this plan. But just over an hour after entering the seemingly never-ending line, our patience was rewarded. It may have taken sixteen years, but our morning at Luke’s did not disappoint.
Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life will feature four 90-minutes episodes that focus on each season over the course of one year. The series premiers on Netflix on November 25 th. We’ll see you in Stars Hollow …
