TURNER Staff Picks for Colorado Gives Day

TURNER Staff Picks for Colorado Gives Day
The season of giving is upon us – and Colorado knows how to give. For the past seven years, Colorado Gives Day has celebrated and increased philanthropy in the state through online giving. The $1 Million Incentive Fund created by the partners is one of the largest gives-day incentive funds in the country. This year’s event takes place on Tuesday, December 7, and Colorado Gives has a great website with listings for a diverse array of nonprofits who need your support. The TURNER team in Denver has our own favorites – here are a few to check out!

Humane Society of the South Platte Valley

The Humane Society of the South Platte Valley (HSSPV) is a non-profit organization that serves the communities of South Denver, offering shelter, care and compassion for lost, stray and unwanted animals until they are redeemed by their families or adopted into a new home.  – Ashley Cox

Denver Film Society

I’m planning to donate to the Denver Film Society, a nonprofit organization that encourages community through the art of film. The money goes towards programs like their Young Filmmakers workshop, which is an educational program aimed at budding filmmakers at the middle and high-school levels.  – Deborah Park

Invest in Kids

My favorite Colorado non-profit is Invest in Kids, an organization that focuses on the specific needs of children in low-income families, with the hope of seeing every child in Colorado thrive. I am part of the YP4Kids group (young professionals branch).  – Molly Early

Colorado Fourteeners Initiative

I’m planning to donate to the Colorado Fourteeners Initiative, a nonprofit that protects, preserves, enhances and restores the natural integrity of Colorado’s 14ers (peaks over 14,000 feet in elevation) through active stewardship and public education. CFI accomplishes its mission through volunteer-based trail construction, maintenance, restoration projects and educational programs.  – Jordan Gover

Sox Place

Sox Place is a homeless youth drop-in center that strives to bring the Father’s heart to the fatherless through intentional, loving relationships. – Tamsen Sear

ACLU Foundation of Colorado

The Associated Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Colorado is a nonpartisan organization whose mission is to protect, defend and extend the civil rights and civil liberties of all people in Colorado through litigation, education and advocacy.  – Tyler Wilcox
