Live On The Split Screen
As the old song says, one is the loneliest number … so Instagram has begun testing a new feature that lets you stream live broadcasts in split screen mode with your BFF. How do you do it? Easy. Just look for the new icon (shaped like two smiley faces) at the bottom right. You’ll be prompted to select a friend, and voila – your screen will split vertically and you and your pal can have a live conversation. Cool, right? Look for it coming to your feed in the next few months.

Is your Instagram account a window into your mental health?
A new study says yes. “People in our sample who were depressed tended to post photos that, on a pixel-by-pixel basis, were bluer, darker and grayer on average than healthy people,” Andrew Reece, co-author of the study with Christopher Danforth, told the
New York Times. Even your filter choice might be revealing: the study found that more depressed people used the gloomy black and white Inkwell, while happier people used the vibrant Valencia.
Apple Takes A Bite Out Of Instagram
Unlike seemingly every other brand, Apple bravely resisted the siren’s call of Instagram for years (though they’ve maintained a few dedicated niche accounts). But this month, the tech giant gave up the fight, launching an official Instagram feed – dubbed @apple, naturally. But the feed isn’t positioned as a promotional tool for Apple as a whole. Instead, the offerings showcase the amazing photographic capabilities of the iPhone, using the hashtag “#ShotOniPhone.” Apple says it will give followers “a look through the lens of iPhone users around the world.”

Instagram Stories are great for a lot of things – but the feature’s greatest use may be for making your friends totally jealous of the amazing places you’re traveling to. Recently, the social media service revealed the top-five most geo-tagged destinations in the world. Some are not surprising – New York City, Sao Paulo and London. But there are some slightly unexpected inclusions: Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia, tops the list.
