Staff List: TURNER Picks for National Taco Day

Staff List: TURNER Picks for National Taco Day
Tacos: a great food … or the greatest food? We lean towards the latter. And even though today happens to be National Taco Day, TURNER needs no excuse to celebrate tacos. Here are just a few of the Denver team’s favorite spots to enjoy the greatest food. tacos-molcajete

Mexico City Restaurant + Lounge

mexicocitydenver.com When I crave, this is the only place that suffices.Go to a high-priced, fancy place if you want, but for the money you can’t beat this authentic family owned Denver gem in the renovated Larimer district. My go-to is chips and salsa and three Fried Tacos (one of each, but my favorite is the steak). Yes, they are a bit greasy but I wouldn’t have them any other way. Mexico City has great margaritas, although I prefer a Mexican beer with my tacos or some good sipping Tequila. A perfect bustling spot for a Rockies pre-game meal.   – Tracey Ornelas

Pinche Tacos

tacostequilawhiskey.com pinche Technically, the name can a bit naughty when translated, so the sign on the door is Tacos Tequila Whiskey. It doesn’t matter, though – locals all still refer to this former food truck empire as Pinche. The menu is a dizzying array of basic and fancy street tacos, including a brunch menu that’s worth a visit. My personal favorites involve pork belly and roasted poblano chiles. – Angela Berardino

La Pasadita Inn

yelp.com/biz/la-pasadita-inn-denver This hole-in-the-wall gem of a restaurant lives in the Uptown neighborhood of Denver and features authentic Mexican fare at a great price. Lucky me, all I have to do is walk across the street to indulge! – Molly Early

Los Chingones

With quite possibly the best happy hour around, we’d be remiss to not include Los Chingones on our National Taco Day round-up. A favorite among many of us TURNERites, Los Chingones is not your standard hole-in-the-wall establishment. The RiNo location offers rooftop dining and tacos with a twist – think Chicken Leg with homemade slaw instead of your standard pollo; Lamb Neck over asada, and more. Pair these tacos with the queso with rattlesnake chorizo and a Los Poma-loma cocktail and you are in set. – Caitlin Martz

El Molcajete

yelp.com/biz/tacos-al-molcajete-longmont Longmont’s Main Street has no shortage of authentic Mexican offerings, but this relatively new spot is a current fave, with perfect pollo, asada, and al pastor tacos, not to mention intensely flavorful homemade salsas. If you can’t handle the heat, watch out for that neon orange one, though —eeyowch!  – Tyler Wilcox

Tacodeli
