The Source Hotel Is One Of 2018's Most Anticipated Hotels

Written by Deborah Park | January 11, 2018
The buzz is building. This week, The New York Times’ Elaine Glusac singled out The Source Hotel, Denver as one of the new hotels to check out in 2018. Slated to open this May, the new property will feature 100 rooms and complement the existing Source Market with an additional market hall showcasing New Belgium’s first Denver small-batch brewery, a collection of experiential, craft-focused vendors, three restaurants, and a rooftop terrace with sweeping views of the downtown Denver skyline and Rocky Mountains. There are countless reasons that the New York Times made the right call in including The Source Hotel, Denver in its 2018 roundup – but we’ve managed to narrow it down to six.

It’s in Denver’s hottest ‘hood

In recent years, the River North Art District – RiNo for short – has become one Denver’s trendiest spots, with industrial spaces being revamped into galleries, creative businesses, restaurants and much more. And its just getting better, with infrastructure improvements taking place monthly, from bike paths, pedestrian-friendly paths, connecting footbridges and more. The neighborhood was also just named one of the Best Drinking Neighborhoods in the Country by Thrillist (see below for more info). Located just north of downtown Denver (which, by the way, was also just singled out by the New York Times), RiNo has an infectious spirit, and The Source Hotel, Denver will fit right in.

The food is going to be out of this world

Guests won’t go hungry while staying here.
  • Smök: BBQ fanatics rejoice. Drawing on his Kansas City and Texas roots, Chef Bill Espiricueta is bringing his smoker to The Source Hotel for a BBQ concept. Smök features both indoor and outdoor seating, overlooking the property’s courtyard and market hall. Smök is rising — Zagat just named it one of its most anticipated openings of 2018.
  • The Woods: This rooftop restaurant/beer garden boasts unparalleled city and mountain views (stretching from 14,000-foot Pikes Peak to the south to Longs Peak to the north) with natural greenery and light wood, bringing the indoor/outdoor spaces to life.
Stay tuned – there’s one more restaurant at The Source Hotel, Denver, still in the works.

It’s connected to one of Denver’s coolest spots

The Source Marketplace opened a few years back – and rapidly became a must-visit destination for locals and visitors alike. A new generation artisan food market located in a former 1880s brick foundry building, The Source is a carefully curated collective of artisans and retailers offering everything from freshly baked bread to craft cocktails, from street tacos to flower arrangements. The Source Hotel will add even more space for local vendors, growing the square footage to 45,000. In other words, a cool thing just got cooler.

It gives guests a whole new view of the Mile High City

The Woods isn’t the only reason that The Source Hotel’s rooftop is going to be one of Denver’s hottest spots. The hotel is the RiNo neighborhood’s only high-rise structure – so you’ll get a whole new perspective on the Denver skyline and the Front Range panorama. To complement the eye candy, there’s a stylish pool and hot tub.

It’s a craft beer lover’s dream hotel

Craft beer is at the very heart of The Source experience. Guests' check-in will take place just a few feet away and separated only by glass from the legendary New Belgium’s very first Denver brewery — a 10-barrel system producing a constantly rotating tap list for the rooftop Woods bar and restaurant, with a heavy emphasis on sour, wild and experiential beers. As if that’s not enough, the acclaimed Crooked Stave Artisan Beer Project is right next-door at The Source Marketplace, and the beloved Great Divide Brewing Co. is across the street. Cheers!

The design is forward thinking – while taking cues from the past

The Source Hotel, Denver’s look is designed by  Stephen Dynia from Dynia Architects. The project creates a powerful duality between the iconic and historic 1880s warehouse that holds the existing Source, and the contemporary new build that will open as the first high rise in the RiNo neighborhood. Dynia preserves the integrity and residual authenticity of RiNo's original low-rise industrial past by creating The Source Hotel from eight distinct, one-story buildings angled and stacked on top of one another. From the rooms to the shared spaces, industrial sensibility is contrasted by light, warm wood and touches of natural elements. To bring the outdoors in, rooms feature raisable garage doors, and floor-to-ceiling windows.
