Simply Give Spotlight: Beautifying Denver's Parks

Written by Tyler Wilcox | September 9, 2015
People in Denver love the outdoors. And nowhere is this fact more apparent than in the Mile High City's vast parks system, which offers more than 200 city parks, 100 miles of trails and 11 dog parks, all adding up to 5,000 acres of urban parkland. And that's not even mentioning Denver's mountain parks, with an additional 14,000 acres of parks in the nearby Rocky Mountains. It's just another one of the reasons TURNER's Denver team is very happy to be here. But beyond just enjoying these wonderful outdoor spaces, we wanted to help out, too. So last week, the team headed down to the banks of the Platte River (on a thankfully overcast morning) for a morning of beautifying. We gave a new coat of paint to one of the park's pavilions and planted more than a hundred plants and flowers. Leslie Knope didn't show up, but the Parks and Rec crew was still extremely cool and friendly. Want to get involved? Volunteering with the Denver Parks & Recreation department can be at grass-root levels all the way up to formal involvement. Call (303) 698-4904 or email Tina Myers at tina.myers@denvergov.org for more details.
