How to Make the Most of this Year’s Winter Olympics

How to Make the Most of this Year’s Winter Olympics
There is only one event that could make me forget about the Super Bowl: the Winter Olympics. The Olympic Games in Sochi are almost upon us and I can’t wait, literally. I am on the slopes skiing some slalom runs right now. Well, I will be this weekend at least. Here are some ways to make the most out of Olympic Mania in the Rocky Mountains:

Do what they do:

Spa 2 0048 If you still have dreams of making it one day (like me) or if you just want to get out there and emulate your favorite athlete, go do it. Charge some of champion skier Lindsey Vonn’s favorite runs at Vail, as listed on the  Four Seasons Blog. Attack Beaver Creek’s  Birds of Prey, a World Cup downhill ski course which is open to the public when not in use by the pros. The gold is practically yours.

Learn what they do:

Skills not sharp enough? Let a former Olympian show you how. Tommy Moe, Former gold medal Olympic skier, offers full and half day lessons at  Jackson Hole to help get you ready for high speeds and steep slopes. But definitely make sure you take some time to recover – you aren’t a pro just yet. Head down to the  Four Seasons Spa at Jackson Hole and get some well needed recovery and pampering.

Celebrate what they do:

Smores at Fire Athlete or not, everyone can enjoy cheering on our squad and marveling at the tremendous acts of courage that take place on screen.  What better place to join arms in patriotic tribute than at the base of a mountain? There, it feels like the bobsled team might walk by at any minute. Find your fellow Olympic fans gathered around the campfire at the Park Hyatt Beaver Creek for  S’mores Happy hour. Head over to the Red Lion together for some dinner while you watch the games.
