How to Stay Human with Kimpton Surfcomber

Kimpton Hotels are constantly pushing the envelope to create one-of-a-kind experiences for their guests.  The Stay Human Project takes this innovative spirit to the next level. This project is Kimpton’s first-of-its kind social experiment. It transforms one premium room in 20 participating properties into a unique activation that honors the hyper-local character of the surrounding neighborhood. It aims to provide guests with a unique experience to forge meaningful ties with other guests.

Kimpton Surfcomber, located in South Beach Miami, Florida, has embraced the Stay Human concept. The Stay Human Room at the hotel sparks creativity, encourage self-reflection and truly explore what makes us human. While staying in the room, guests will discover, connect, and enjoy the emotions and values of staying human. Features include:

Wall Art Station

Every Stay Human Room guest features a small canvas and painting supplies. As a result, guests can create an art piece that reflects their own emotions and visions. Upon the completion of the Stay Human Project, each individual art piece will be combined. The final masterpiece will be one collective 4’x4’ piece of art hung inside the room, showcasing the collective visions of all individuals.

Photo Mood Station

The room comes equipped with an instant polaroid camera. Guests can snap photos of themselves throughout their stays, representing their moods. Sharpies will also be available to write on the white space around the photo, to describe the mood depicted in the photo. Then, the photos will be added to the room’s photo album box that captures the collective moods of all Stay Human guests.    

Herb Garden

In the balcony of the room, guests will find an interactive herb garden. This special herb garden is a growing CO-OP that relies on the care of all guests to continue growing. Additionally, guests can leave notes in an in-room journal, detailing garden activities for later Stay Human guests to use as reference.

Active + Relax Station

Part of connecting, decompressing and discovery comes from being open to new ideas! Stay Human Room guests can partake in a number of activities available within the comfort of their rooms, on the beach or poolside. Try hula hooping, meditation sessions, yoga classes and much more.   

Splash Cycle

This unique aquacycling experience is available on-property and complimentary for Stay Human Guests.  SplashCycle offers everything you could possibly want from your workout: intensity, amazing tunes, good vibes, community, and fun. You'll pedal against water resistance while riding stationary bikes in a pool.

Cuban Coffee

Various Latin communities have blessed Miami with an array of cultural influences. This includes Cuban Coffee (or " cafecito" if you will). With its rich and sweet aroma, this beverage is a must try. It will give you that early morning jolt or late afternoon pick me up.
