How Destinations and Hotels can Use Pinterest, Google+, Instagram and Tumblr

How Destinations and Hotels can Use Pinterest, Google+, Instagram and Tumblr
Earlier today, our Sr. Director of PR & Digital Integration, Jillian Smith, was invited to present the latest social media platforms to the PRSA Travel & Tourism group in the first Brown Bag session of 2012. In this presentation, we tackled how to identify your social media goals, brand assets, target audiences and apply that knowledge to the cool kids of the social media scene including pinning with Pinterest, utilizing Google+ for Hangouts and SEO, turning iPhone pictures into works of art with Instagram and blogging with the under 30 crowd on Tumblr. Of course, this crew was pretty savvy and asked great questions and event shared some of their insight using these channels. Thanks for the invite, PRSA! Below is a topline guide of best practices for setting up new channels, and lucky for you, you can access the entire presentation HERE
  1. Identify your brand goals
  2. Master the basics on Facebook and Twitter
  3. Create a clear target guest (could be broken into tiers)
  4. Inventory brand assets and strengths
  5. Choose one new channel at a time and build robustly
  6. Watch analytics, web traffic and bookings and determine ROI
  7. Be open to tweaks and changes
  8. Go for it!
