Globetrotting 101

So you want to travel the world? Get ready for a lot of planning and preparation. TIME has laid out an easy-to-follow guide, from how to map out your destinations to saving cash while you’re trekking. One cool thing to consider: Global Entry, which gives you expedited screening through airport security (similar to TSAPreCheck) while throwing in the added benefit of expedited U.S. customs screenings through automated airport kiosks when arriving from an international destination. So what are you waiting for – get globetrotting!

Phone Ban

But what if you were traveling the world and couldn’t bring your cellphone? Unthinkable, right? But a new travel company – aptly titled Off The Grid – is asking its guests to ditch their phones, even if they’re only using them to take photos. The company’s founder, Zach Beattie, says: “I think it’s interesting and challenging to say, ‘Can I enjoy this moment without a camera? Can I soak up this memory and have it be part of me without instantly sharing with someone else in order for the moment to be real?’” What do you think – are you ready to go Off The Grid?

Take Off, Stand Up

World travel is going to require plenty of air travel, which means lots of cramped quarters. But an Italian seat manufacturer is trying something new to ease your aching legs. It’s a little weird but bear with us: according to CNN, these seats “are so far upright that they'll be pretty much standing up.” Dubbed the SkyRider 2.0, these seats apparently ensure “an increased upright passenger position, allowing installation of the seat at a reduced pitch, while maintaining an adequate comfort.” We don’t know about you, but we’d like a little more than “adequate comfort” on a transatlantic flight!

Out Of This World

So where will you go once you’ve seen the world? How about outer space? It’s closer than you think – but it’ll cost you. According to Forbes, Aurora Station, the first-ever luxury space hotel, is set to welcome guests as soon as 2022. A 12-day experience will cost you a cool $9.5 million per person. But despite the astronomic price tag, the experience itself does sound amazing, with stunning views, zero gravity floats, a virtual reality “holodeck” and a whole lot more. Start saving now!
