E-Bike Boom
Bike sharing is nothing new. But the pandemic has given it a major boost in urban areas, reports the New York Times. “Covid sort of propelled electric bikes forward by years,” said Josh Squire, the founder and chief executive of Hopr, a bike-share service. As a result, the e-bike eco-system is transforming the way we get around.
Back In The Air
Are Americans ready to fly again? After a brutal 12 months, things are starting to look up for airlines. According to TravelPulse, “trends are improving and have been over the last six weeks. Agencies are currently selling 58.9 percent fewer airline tickets than for the same period in 2019 during the week ending February 28, 2021. A week earlier, that transaction count was off by 64 percent.”
All Aboard The Bullet Train
Also a possible comeback in the transportation realm — high-speed rail travel. The Points Guy looks at the possibility of a so-called “bullet train” between Boston and New York: the North Atlantic Rail Project. It’d get you from Beantown to the Big Apple in less than two hours. Meanwhile, Amtrak is already rolling out its new high-speed Acela train sets.
