Brands have had to respond quickly in the COVID-19 era, but speed isn’t the only factor to consider. Marketing campaigns need to be smart and sensitive to the pandemic, offering inspiration with a dose of distraction, humor and a helping of social responsibility. Introducing The Black Travel Alliance
Black Americans spend more than $63 billion on travel every year. But the representation just isn’t there. The Black Travel Alliance launched this week hoping to change that. The group’s mission is to support of true diversity across the travel industry, “from increasing hotel employment to calling for more representation in destination marketing content and travel panels.”
Pivot To Podcasts
Last month, Meredith Corp., publisher of several popular travel, food and lifestyle magazines, unveiled the first of four new podcasts. The new initiative includes audio offerings from Meredith’s flagship titles, including Allrecipes, Parents, Travel + Leisure and Southern Living. Staycations To The Rescue
Bloomberg reports that the embattled hotel industry may experience a much-needed boost from the staycation. People just aren’t ready to fly as frequently. But they still want a change of scenery closer to home. “From two-day weekends to full-week respites, leisure travelers are headed out on the highway, driving for as long as five hours in search of room service and waterfall showers,” writes Arianne Cohen.
