Fitness wearables are great for collecting data about your health routines. But what if they could make you not just healthier – but smarter? Halo Neuroscience’s new Halo Sport headset aims to do just that. Forbes’ Kara Stiles has the details: “The Halo Sport headset primes the brain’s motor cortex during training for ‘accelerated acquisition’ of strength and skill. Launched in late 2016, the wearable has been used by all branches of the military and elite athletes across the NFL, NBA, Olympic teams and more.” Halo calls it “hyperlearning” – and it’s now available in a more wallet-friendly device. Maybe a headset seems a little too bulky for your workout? Motiv’s updated fitness tracking ring fits right around your finger – and it can do almost everything your Fitbit or Apple Watch does, including the usual metrics and new features like sleep tracking, Android compatibility and social sharing. That’s right, the next time you’re at the gym, you’ll be able to instantly post your fitness achievements to your Facebook feed — if that’s really the sort of thing you’d want to do.
Casio has long been an innovator in the world of timepieces – and that includes fitness watches, too. Recently, the company debuted the GBA-800, a hybrid fitness watch that uses a built-in accelerometer to measure your daily steps and walking or running pace. The amount of steps you’ve taken are displayed on the watch, along with calories burned (on both a map and a graph). There’s also a very cool dual time display – perfect for interval training. Finally, it’s got a great design that pairs nicely with both workout and more casual looks. Watch out, Casio might have the fitness wearable to beat.
It’s 2018! And you’re still not feeling motivated to get into shape … but there’s a new Androd and iOS app that might give you some cold, hard incentive. According to Lifehacker, the new Sweatcoin “tracks your steps each day and then converts them into a digital currency called ‘Sweatcoin’ that can be used to purchase things like a Delta or PayPal gift card or an iPhone X. It’s sort of like mining for Bitcoin, except ‘mining’ is going for a walk.” Getting paid for working out? Sounds good to us – see you on the treadmill!
