By now, you may have noticed a new notification in your Instagram feed – one telling you that maybe you don’t need to be looking at your Instagram feed, of all things. The “You’re All Caught Up” message lets you know when you’ve seen every post from the last two days. Don’t worry, nothing is disappearing; you’ll find posts that you’ve already viewed as well as posts that are older than two days below the “You’re All Caught Up” message. Meanwhile, TechCrunch reports that both Facebook and Instagram are trying out Do Not Disturb features – you’ll be able to shut off notifications from the apps for 30 minutes, one hour, two hours, eight hours, one day or until they’re turned back on manually.
Google Podcasts is here, and the app may shake up how you listen to your favorites. While much of the set-up is fairly (and thankfully) straightforward, but there are some handy features that elevate the podcast game. According to Wired, Google Podcasts offers “AI-powered recommendations based on what you already subscribe to and your listening patterns. As you continue to use it, the home screen will dynamically change, zeroing in from generic suggestions to more specific ones.” This should help you find even more great podcasts to help you through the work week.
Some of the most influential influencers out there today don’t even know that they’re influencers – because they’re babies. Racked writes: “influencer marketing has exploded, and more recently, one area has proven to be particularly lucrative: sponsored content that involves kids, or spawn con, if you will.” The con part of spawn con is primarily to target a particular demographic: new or expectant mothers. “Many of these stars are also planning to start families of their own in the near future, and their fans and followers are often in a similar life stage,” Sharee Loeffler, the director of marketing for Ava, told Racked. “This makes them a natural fit.”
If you’re looking for the hottest Instagram shot this summer, head to the art wall located at 7753 Melrose Ave. in Los Angeles. But you can’t just visit this wall – it’s for the cream of the social media crop only: no one with less than 20,000 followers is allowed in to this hallowed space. According to Travel + Leisure, hopefuls have to “flash their Instagram or Twitter accounts to the security guard on site (yes, actually), weave their way into an uber-private tent (like Coachella VIP), and pose in front of a pair of painted angel wings that are so vibrant and Insta-worthy, you’ll want to hashtag and post it to your thriving social media platforms ASAP.” #NoThanks.
