Hats off to Bombas, the "buy one, donate one" sock brand, who reached a new level of exposure for its #BeeBetter mission in February on CBS This Morning. Check it out here.
Inspired? Bombas is just getting started. The brand recently launched an amazing initiative called 60k Day in New York City. On any given night in NYC, there are an estimated 60,000 homeless men, women, and children. To help out, on February 28, Bombas brought together 60 of New York’s most influential companies to collectively donate 60,000 pairs of socks to 60 New York-based shelters and service centers. The event was a huge success — and the start of a regular tradition. Check out social media coverage of 60K Day at Bombas.com/pages/60kday and on the Bombas Instagram account.
Socks are the number one most requested clothing item at homeless shelters – and it was this sobering fact that inspired Bombas to kickstart its One Pair Purchased, One Pair Donated program. It’s as simple – and effective – as it sounds: every time you buy a pair of Bombas’ purpose built socks for athletic performance and engineered for extreme comfort, the brand donates a pair to those in need. There’s a further twist, however: the socks donated to homeless shelters aren’t the exact same socks you’ll purchase in a store or online; they’re actually designed specifically for people who aren’t able to afford a clean pair of socks, with darker colors, anti-microbial elements and reinforced seams. As of September 2016, Bombas has donated one million pairs of socks. Here’s to one million more.
